E,F, and G

The past couple weeks we covered letters E, F, and G. Some things we did in class were:

Flowers (letter F)
How flowers grow (soil, seed, water and sun)
We did that little flower experiment which I heard some of the flowers didn't work! Sorry if your child was disappointed, I should have used a different type of flower.

Writing Names:
I am trying to get them to practice writing their names as much as they can. They have name tags on their desk that they are using as a guide. My pre k class does great in using that as a reference, and my toddler group still needs some help so I usually have them trace their names.

Gumballs (letter G)
For the letter G each child got a bag of gumballs and we counted them, sorted them by color, and even did a fun gumball craft. The kids loved it and had fun using an eraser of a pencil to paint their gumball machine!

Days of the week:
We have a really fun days of the week song that everyone LOVES to sing. So at home try to practice the days of the week with them so the days become more familiar to them.

Toddler Class:
Try to sing the alphabet as much as you can at home so it becomes more natural to them and we can start working on letter recognition.

A couple of announcements!

The last class for Pre K will be May 22 and the last day for the Toddler class will be May 23. So for the month of May it will be $42 (7 class sessions).

Starting in August I will be raising my prices from $6 each class to $8 each class. Please let me know by email, text, or when you pick up your child if you are wanting them to be in my June and July summer school (same prices apply to this session, $6 each class) and if you are wanting to sign them up for my August school session. Spots are filling up quickly so let me know as soon as you can!

March in Review

March was such a great month and I can definitely already see a change in your kids.

The things we covered in March were:

Letters A, B, C, and D
Counting
Easter
Dr. Seuss
St. Patricks Day
AB Patterns
And much much more!

I am going to start posting on here more of what we do in class, so you as parents can work with your kids at home. Some things that will really help me is working on the letters at home and counting. Counting comes much easier for them I have noticed, but letter recognition is something younger kids struggle with. It is so fun to see them become friends with each other and they are starting to get used to the classroom setting and the whole idea of having a teacher. Any time that you can help them write their name is always a big help as well, and of course we do all these things in the classroom almost every time but the extra practice really helps them.

REMIDERS:
Payments are due this next week! It is $6.00 each class so for the month of April there will be 9 classes so it is $54.00. Please send it in your child's folder or hand it to me at the first  class of the month.

Themes for April:
I am switching around the themes for each month and for this month our themes will be:
              Letters E,F,G,H
              Flowers
              Bugs
              Pets
              Space

Two weeks Already?

These past two weeks have been so fun! Your kids are so fun to teach and I really hope they are enjoying it as much as I am. Just a couple reminders:

Toddler Class: Don't Forget NO CLASS on Thursday March 21 (next week). I will be out of town.

So I had mentioned before that they would need to bring their Easter Baskets for an Easter Egg hunt but I am no longer going to do that. We will still have an Easter themed week next week and have a lot of fun activities going on but with me going out of town and having one less day with my Toddler class I won't be doing a full out Easter Egg hunt.

Please feel free to call/text/email me anytime!

March Newsletter

Welcome! I am so excited to teach your kids and I hope they are ready to learn. I will try to update this blog as much as possible and also send out an occasional email if it is important. (When I say PRE K that is my older class, and when I say Toddler class that is my 3-4 age group class)

We will be doing some things in class that will need parent involvement at home. One of those things is Student of the Week. This is a chance for your child to step out of that comfort zone and let us know all about him/her and be the STAR of that week. When it is your child’s turn there will be a take home paper so you will be able to know what to do. He/She will get the student of the week bag the week before it is their turn. On the first day of preschool for that week he/she will bring the “Star of the Week” paper that he/she will share with the class. The second day he will bring back the bag filled with 3 of their favorite things (must fit in the bag) and their favorite snack to share with everyone for that day. During the week they will also be my main helper in passing out snacks, papers, etc.

I forgot that Easter is actually in the month of March this year, so I am going to be adding a weekly theme for Easter! During that week we will be having an Easter Egg hunt. For Pre K it will be on Wednesday March 27 and for the Toddlers (3-4) it will be on Thursday March 28. On this day please have your child bring their Easter basket.

Make sure  you child brings the notebook that I will give them in class on the first day each time! One side says ‘Bring Back’ and the other side says ‘Take home’. If its in the take home side then you know that you can take that out of the notebook and they do not need to bring it back. But if it is in the bring back side that means they will need to bring that paper back and you might need to look at it.

**Toddler class only: There will be no class on March 21 (Thursday) I will be out of town.

Welcome!

Welcome to my new preschool! I am so excited to start teaching your kids and I hope they are just excited to learn. I will be using this blog to update you on what's going on at preschool, fun pictures, important dates and events, and any important announcements. I will be making this blog private as well once I have all your email addresses added on to here so this information won't be leaked out anywhere :)  I have two different age groups of kids and there are still some more openings so spread the word and give them my contact information if they are interested! I know I am starting in kind of a random month.. but I want to get my name out there so I will be doing March-May, then June and July will be the summer months of classes, and then I will start back up again in August. My first age group is the pre-k group (about a year before they go to kindergarten) and that will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-11 AM. Then the 3-4 year old group will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11 am. I charge $48/month ($3/hr) and this payment should be paid at the first class of the month. If you know you are going to be gone one of the days during that month then let me know and we can adjust your payment from there. In March I am going to Utah the evening of the 20-24 so I will not be there for the 3-4 age group Thursday class so your payment will be $45 for that month. I will give you a calendar and all this information so you can have your own copy of it but I will also post it on here as well! As of right now I am planning on starting classes the first week of March so Pre-K's first class will be MARCH 4 @ 9 AM and then the 3-4 age group's first class will be MARCH 5 @ 9 AM. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me at summerfullmer2@gmail.com and my phone number is (208)821-1575.
